I occasionally teach courses at Michigan State University, most recently IBIO445: Evolution in Fall 2017.
I regularly mentor Michigan State University undergraduate students in research projects and encourage them to present at local, regional, or national conferences. You can read about one of my student's experiences at the Evolution meetings in 2017 here.
DIVERSITY, EQUITY, AND INCLUSION IN SCIENCE
I am a strong advocate for increasing the diversity and inclusivity of science fields. As such, I have been involved in a variety of initiatives. I am the lead organizer for the Undergraduate Diversity at Evolution Program and the Ecology/Evolution events at the Society for Advancement of Chicanos/Hispanics and Native Americans in Science (SACNAS) national conference. You can read more about the SACNAS events from 2016 (symposium, field trip/movie night) and 2018 (symposium).
