I am a Wildlife Engagement Specialist and faculty member of the Michigan State University (MSU) Department of Fisheries and Wildlife. I work jointly with MSU Extension and the Michigan Department of Natural Resources to develop, evaluate, and improve wildlife and conservation-related engagement programs.
In support of my outreach and engagement efforts, I also conduct research ranging from ecology to education. Throughout I strive for inclusivity by fostering equitable participation and respecting diverse perspectives. Some of my current efforts include:
Previously I served as a postdoc in evolution education and outreach with the BEACON Center at Michigan State University, and helped develop the ConnectedBio high school curriculum. I also co-organized public engagement workshops to train scientists how to better engage with the public and policy makers. Prior to joining MSU, I earned my Ph.D. in ecology and evolutionary biology at Florida State University where I conducted research about the rare Pine Barrens Treefrog.
